NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- An Indiana State Trooper was hospitalized after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash in New Albany early Tuesday.
According to a news release from the Indiana State Police Post in Sellersburg, it happened around 5 a.m. June 10 on Slate Run Road near Beeler Street. That's where police say Trooper Scott Parkes was driving northbound when the vehicle went off the right (east) side of the roadway. Parkes apparently over corrected, sending the cruiser west across Slate Run Road where it struck a utility pole on the west side of the road.
Police say Parkes was taken to University Hospital in Louisville. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. He was wearing a seat belt.
Parkes has been a state trooper for one year and is assigned Clark and Floyd Counties.
He was not on an emergency run at the time of the crash.
