JCPS board approves revised student code of conduct, free lunch expansion

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Jefferson County Public Schools board has approved a revised student code of conduct with new suspension policies for the 2014-2015 school year.

The board also made the decision to expand the free lunch program. The free meal program is federally funded and would not impact the JCPS budget.

55,000 students in 95 schools are affected. The board passed the measure by a unanimous vote.

Under new federal guidelines, if 62.5 percent of students in a school qualify for the free meal program, then every student in that school will receive free breakfast and lunch.
