LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man who was hospitalized after being severely beaten during a robbery told police the person who did it lives in the same home.

According to the arrest report, it happened May 31 at a residence on South 15th Street, near West Market Street. That's where 46-year-old David J. Weaver allegedly assaulted and robbed the victim.

Police say the victim sustained severe injuries as a result of the beating and required brain surgery. According to the arrest report, the victim remained incapacitated for more than a week, and was unable to file a report until June 9.

According to the police report, Weaver and the victim live in the same house, but Weaver provided detectives with several items that he says "will prove his innocence."

Weaver admits he was present when the victim was robbed, but says he didn't do it.

Weaver was arrested June 10 and charged with one count of robbery. He's being held at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $5,000 full cash bond.
