Ky. Commission on Human Rights host forum for LGBT community

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights hosted a forum Thursday that was focused on fair housing for those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

Today's forum was focused on reaching the LGBT community, who are interested in fair housing at college campuses and in communities. The commission helps enforce equal rights laws throughout Kentucky.

"We deal with complaints of discrimination -- victims of discrimination based on race, sex, national origin, religion...that all comes to us," said John Johnson of the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights. "We are the statewide agency."

The commission supports expanding the Kentucky Civil Rights Act to include equal rights in housing, employment, and public accommodations based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
