LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville suspect demanded money from a man -- and when he didn't get it -- he took the victim's dog.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Samara Drive, at a home near Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

Police say 30-year-old Jazmon Miles, along with unnamed accomplices, showed up at the man's home claiming he owed them money. They allegedly put a gun to the man's face, and when they didn't get money, they took the man's dog, grabbing the dog by the neck, putting it into a plastic bag and throwing it into the trunk of a car.

Police say Miles then hit the man in the back of the head with the gun, before he and his accomplices fled the scene.

After officers arrived at the home, Miles and his accomplices returned. They were taken into custody and the dog was returned unharmed. Police say the gun was never found.

Miles was charged with first degree robbery and cruelty to animals.
