LOUISVILLE, KY. (WDRB) - Two Shively police officers on patrol were injured early Saturday morning after their police vehicle collided with a Chevy Lumina, according to authorities.

Police say the female driver of the Lumina was traveling southbound on 7th Street Road, when she drifted into the northbound lanes and struck the police car.

The two officers were transported to University Hospital with what are reported to be non life-threatening injuries. Both officers reportedly sustained broken arms from the crash.

Shively Police say the accident happened on 7th Street Road just before 4:30 a.m. and the road was closed until about 7:35 a.m.

The female driver was also taken to University Hospital, with non life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the incident and say alcohol and speeding may have been factors. They say charges are pending in the case.

One of the policemen was reportedly an officer in training.
