LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An autopsy was unable to determine what caused the death of an inmate at the Scott County Jail, according to Sgt. Jerry Goodin. The autopsy was performed Sunday morning in Louisville at the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office says 48-year-old Johnie Locklear, an Austin, Indiana resident, went to the Scott County Hospital in cardiac distress around 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Locklear was pronounced dead just after 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Loved ones tell us Locklear had been involved in a physical altercation with jailers, but the coroner has not released the cause of death.

Officers arrested Locklear Wednesday on charges of fleeing, resisting law enforcement, and emergency detention.

Sheriff Dan McClain has asked Indiana State Police to handle the death investigation.

Toxicology results taken from the autopsy will not be available for up to six weeks.
