Bourbon by the bridge raises money for abused and neglected children

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- You could take the number of abused and neglected children in Kentucky each year and fill every seat in the KFC YUM! Center. That's the backdrop for the second annual Bourbon by the bridge event at Waterfront Park.

Guests sipped bourbon and enjoyed dinner and jazz while supporting child abuse awareness.

Proceeds from the event go to the non-profit CASA of the River Region. It's a team of court appointed special advocates for abused and neglected children.

William Meyers with CASA says the event is all about the kids. "We're completely volunteer-run and we really make a difference in these kids lives in terms of making sure they're going to school, to the doctor and making sure they have all the resources they need," Meyers said.

One out of every five child abuse or neglect cases in Kentucky comes from Louisville.
