Steve Coburn returns to Churchill Downs to collect the Kentucky Derby Trophy

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Steve Coburn returned to Churchill Downs Saturday to accept the trophy for winning the 2014 Kentucky Derby.

Boos and cheers filled the stands as Coburn walked into the winner's circle. Of course, Coburn had a response.

"I was nervous," Coburn said, "I got some boos. Yeah, I got some boos, I deserved them. Thank you for the boos, but we have a tremendous fan base here. You can hate me but don't hate my horse."

Coburn publicly bashed Churchill Downs' hospitality after the Kentucky Derby. Then he went on a tirade during an interview after the Belmont when California Chrome came up short in the triple crown.

Coburn went on to say that despite the upset his rant caused, race lovers "big and small" agreed with what he said about keeping it an equal playing field.

He also says he has settled his score with Churchill Downs.Copyright 2014 WDRB News. All rights reserved.
