LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A mischievous kitten in San Diego got a free ride but wound up in a tight spot.

A taxi cab driver had no idea a kitten was trapped in the engine of his car, until he stopped to drop off a customer. For hours, the driver and firefighters tried to get the kitten loose in downtown San Diego.

The kitten's little paws could be seen, and the driver could hear the kitten meowing.

A television news crew even helped, lighting the engine and propping the hood up with a camera tripod.

Finally, they got a good grip from the wheel well, and set the little guy free.

Animal rescuers say he's about 8 weeks old and in good shape.
