LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- WDRB's 10th Hoop it Up kicked off Saturday giving teams a chance to play for a trip to the national Hoop it Up championship.

About 80 teams participated in the first day and almost all will be back on Sunday to play in the elimination games. The games allow four on a team in the three-on-three competition. This year, the tournament conforms to FIBA (Federation of International Basketball Associations) rules.

One lucky participant got the chance to shoot some hoops for a Cadillac Escalade. Antwon Alexander got 23 seconds to make a lay-up, a free-throw, a three-pointer and a half-court shot. Alexander easily dropped in a lay-up, but struggled with the others until he ran out of time.

The 3-on-3 games continue Sunday giving teams a chance to play for the national title in Washington D.C. The event also included a slam-dunk contest and a three-point shootout.
