Floyd County Democrats host first party convention in the county

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Building Indiana's infrastructure and helping everyone earn a living wage were among the topics discussed today at the Floyd County Democrats' first county convention.

The even was held in New Albany at the Veterans 40&8.

More than 70 Floyd County candidates, precint volunteers and activists all took part, talking about the county's finances, ethics, budget, and how they can move Indiana in the right direction.

Democratic Candidate for State Senate Chuck Freiberger says he feels Democrats have been drowned out in Indiana. "At the present time in the state of Indiana we have a super-majority of Republicans in the senate and the house, with a republican governor." Freiberger says, "so, there is no say from the democratic side and we definitely need that voice."

They also kicked off campaigns by going door-to-door. The goal was to help residents understand the issues for the November election and introduce the candidates running for office.
