LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville woman accused of leaving the scene of an accident on Dixie Highway Sunday was in court Monday.

Twenty-one-year-old Nitalia D. Anderson told a judge her brakes when out just before she ran over a man around 4:30 a.m. Sunday. Police say she was traveling northbound in the 1600 block of Dixie Highway when her car jumped a curb and struck a man. Police estimated her speed at around 60 miles an hour.

Police say Anderson didn't stop to check on the victim, and drove for several blocks with three flat tires before coming to a stop at Dixie and Burwell Avenue. According to the arrest report, Anderson was driving on a suspended license and without proof of insurance.

The victim was taken to University Hospital with a leg injury.

Anderson is charged with first degree assault, reckless driving, operating on a suspended license, and failure to maintain insurance. She was being held at Metro Corrections on a $1,000 full cash bond.
