LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Louisville man was arrested after police say he hit a car and kept driving.

According to the arrest report, it happened early Saturday morning as Heriberto Cardonas-Mirands drove on the 841 south off-ramp onto New Cut Road.

Police say Cardonas-Mirands drove through a red light at a high rate of speed and hit the victim's vehicle.

Police say the impact was so great that the vehicle spun 360 degrees and the victim was ejected from the car. The victim was transported to the hospital after sustaining internal abdominal injuries.

Police say Cardonas-Mirands did not stop. Police later arrested him on Dixie Highway where he was found with severe damage to his vehicle.

According to the arrest report, Cardonas-Mirands admitted to leaving the scene of the crash and "acted like the whole thing was a joke to him."

He faces multiple charges including assault, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render assistance, and operating a vehicle with no insurance or operator's license.
