Indiana State Police investigating triple shooting that left one person dead

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Orange County Sheriff's department are investigating a triple shooting. 

According to a press release, the department was notified of a man lying in the road on N County Road 200 W. 

EMS arrived on scene just after 1 p.m. and discovered three gunshot victims.

In addition to the reported victim, EMS found a second man walking outside the residence with a gunshot wound, and a third man inside with a gunshot wound.

Investigators say the man inside the residence died. The additional victims were transported to IU Health in Paoli and University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville. They say one of the victims was shot in the mouth, while the other was shot in the head.

Indiana State Police say the deceased victim is Nicholas Fields, 56, of Paoli. The other victims have been identified as Cory Michael Harris, 25, who was shot in the head, and Daniel Smitson, 29, who was shot in the mouth.
