Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) June 25, 2014
Unicon, Inc., a leading IT consulting, services, and support provider specializing in open source for the education technology market, today announced that Drew Wills, Lead Architect of Unicons portal practice, has been named an Apereo Fellow for 2014. Apereo Fellows are recognized for their major contributions to the Apereo community of open source projects. Drew has made code contributions to uPortal, Student Success Plan (SSP), Central Authentication Service (CAS), most of the Apereo portlet projects, and a handful of ancillary Apereo projects used primarily in uPortal and portlet development. Drew has been working with uPortal since 2002, and is also a member of the uPortal Steering Committee.
I am honored to be recognized as an Apereo Fellow, said Drew Wills, Lead Architect of Unicons Portal Practice. I value my relationship with the Apereo community and plan on continuing my contributions to the uPortal project and other Apereo projects.
Apereo Fellows were announced at the 2014 Open Apereo conference in Miami, June 1-4. Fellows enrich the Apereo community in a variety of ways, including technical expertise, teaching, research, community organization, support, and leadership.
Apereo Fellows enhance the community through their contributions and leadership roles, said Ian Dolphin, Executive Director of the Apereo Foundation. This yearly recognition program lets contributors know that the community not only values their contributions but supports their future efforts.
The purpose of the Apereo Foundation Fellows Program is to acknowledge, celebrate, and reward the contributions of these important Apereo volunteer contributors. The Apereo Fellows program seeks to foster community leadership and contribution through recognizing and supporting active contributors.
