Triple Crown takes off at Kentucky Speedway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Triple Crown weekend at the Kentucky Speedway starts Thursday with the truck race.

Nationwide drivers took to the track on Wednesday for practice before the race.

The Sprint Cup race, which is the main event, is on Saturday night.

The crowd can rival the Kentucky Derby both in size and intensity.

"You can sit in the stands vibrate as they go by if you're down in the first 20 rows you can actually fill the dirt fly off the track and hit you in the face," said NASCAR fan Kevin Watts.

One report estimated the economic impact of the events to be near $150 million.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is scheduled to be at 4th Street Live signing autographs on Thursday.
