LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana Conservation officers are investigating a man's death after he was pulled from a private pond.
Daniel Bontrager, age 21, died Thursday night. It happened at a pond off Rego Millersburg Road near Orleans. Officials say the Amish man jumped from a small boat and tried to swim to shore around 8:30.
About 15 others swimming with him pulled him from the bottom of the pond in about 10 feet of water and started CPR.
Emergency responders took him to IU Hospital in Paoli, where he was pronounced dead. He was not wearing a life jacket.
