LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell says if he wins November's election, he'll push for legislation that would limit abortions.

McConnell was at the Kentucky Right to Life event at the Galt House in downtown Louisville. He spoke about pushing legislation that would prohibit abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy.

McConnell said he was proud to represent a state that was pro-life. He promised to focus more attention on limiting abortions if Republicans take control of the Senate in November.

"This means that the people in my state and yours - that at a minimum we ought to protect unborn children after the fifth month of pregnancy and we can't even get a vote in the U.S. Senate," McConnell said.

McConnell declined talking to reporters after the event.
