LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB)---The search for an accused killer continues this weekend in southern Indiana, following a triple shooting last week.

Two men are behind bars, but the mother of John Carpenter is fearful, after days on the run, things could turn violent when her son is found.

On Friday evening, authorities caught up to 36-year-old James Davidson.

Two days before, WDRB was there when another man, 48-year-old Elbert Brooks, was arrested and charged.

Both men are accused of murder, along with 35-year-old John Carpenter, who still hasn't been found.

“If they had been calm and not chasing him like an animal, I dare say this would be over. but if you had somebody like that after you, would you be stupid enough to stop,” asked Debby Carpenter, the mother of John Carpenter.

Debby Carpenter, the mother of John Carpenter, says she doesn't believe he's the man responsible for killing Nicholas Fields and Corey Harris, and injuring Daniel Smitson.

“Let's just say that his names out there and they know that he is not the shooter,” said Debby Carpenter.

However, authorities continue to say Carpenter was involved, and have called him the gunman in the case.

Carpenter's mother says an accident 2 years ago, led to brain damage for her son and says he has never been the same since then.

“And the portion of his brain that was damaged is the portion that helps control emotions and decision making,” said Carpenter.

She says this has been a tough week for everyone involved.

“I do realize that 2 people lost their lives and one is injured. I'm very sorry for those parents. I have a sense of what they're going through,” Carpenter said.

On Friday, we spoke to the family of one of the victims, Corey Harris.

His wife spoke out about the men accused in the triple shooting.

“I hope they rot in hell because I hate them. I really do. They took away a good man,” said Ashley Harris, the wife of Corey Harris.

As for John Carpenter, his mother says she's simply hoping things don't turn violent when authorities catch up to him, and is making this plea.

“Get to Crawford County and turn yourself in. Find somebody that will go with you. Call us if you can.Love you,” said Debby Carpenter.

At last check tonight, authorities are still looking for John Carpenter.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, call Indiana State Police.
