LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A homeless man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he robbed a victim, then shot that person in the neck.

It happened on Friday, near the corner of Millers Lane and Valley Station Road. Police say 25-year-old Kevin Ruth and 24-year-old Forrest Knott drove to that location to meet with the victim.

When they arrived, Knott allegedly got out of the car, so the victim could get in and sit next to Ruth.

That's when, police say, Ruth pointed a gun at the victim and demanded money. When the victim refused to give him any money, Ruth allegedly shot the individual in the neck.

According to the arrest reports, the victim then got out of the vehicle, and Knott got back in. At that point, police say Ruth and Knott drove away.

Both Ruth and Knott were arrested Sunday at 3 a.m. at a home on Sydney Renee Way, near the intersection of E. Orell Road and Dixie Highway, and charged with first degree robbery. Ruth was charged with attempted murder.
