LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fifteen college mascots hung out at Churchill Downs Monday, to welcome Louisville to the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The mascots are in the Derby City to participate in Tuesday's celebration at Fourth Street Live, marking the Cardinals official entry into the ACC.

Students on campus say they are excited about the big move and that it will bring more interest to, not only the Cards, but to the city and the state.

U of L junior Aaron Weber says it will bring in fans to watch top teams take on the Cardinals, "I get to see Notre Dame, Florida State, Miami…just a lot of teams considering how last year, how boring it kinda got near the end. It's just exciting to have week-in and week-out possibly top level people coming."

Senior Paul Maddox says it will help both the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky. "I think it'll bring in a bigger scope, not just one school being in a big conference but now two schools being in a big conference,” Maddox says, “will help with the ACC, SEC rivalry."

The move to the ACC officially takes effect at midnight Monday night.
