Shelbyville man accused of distributing child pornography
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Shelbyville man has been arrested for distributing child pornography.
According to an arrest report, the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch was conducting an undercover investigation on April 7, when investigators received a 26-minute video from the IP address belonging to James Faust. Police say that video contained the sexual exploitation of a child under the age of 6.
Police say they were able to match a physical address with the IP address and obtained a search warrant for that location.
According to the arrest report, police eventually caught up with Faust and interviewed him -- at which point he allegedly admitted to downloading child pornography from as early as one year ago.
Police say they identified 284 files containing child sexual exploitation that had been shared from Faust's IP address. Faust allegedly told police that he deleted the files after viewing them.
He was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Monday, June 30, and charged with distribution of matter portraying the sexual performance of a minor.
