If you’re not hopelessly stupid, now might be a good time to go out and fix a sandwich. I’ll be finished by the time you get back.
OK, mouth breathers, let me ask you something: What on earth will it take to get you to understand that you don’t ever leave children or pets alone in a hot car? Not for an hour, not for fifteen minutes and not even just long enough to run into the store for a pack of cigarettes. What’s so hard about that?
Every summer, we see stories of people who simply can’t seem to grasp this simple concept, and every time a tragedy results, everyone wrings their hands and refers to the whole thing as a "horrible mistake."
But how dumb do you have to be to make a mistake that’s the equivalent of putting your child in the oven and turning it on? How many times do you have to be told? How many other stupid people have to make this mistake before you learn?
There are only two possibilities regarding people who submit their children or pets to such cruelty: They’re either stupid beyond belief or hopelessly evil. If you’re that evil, you’re beyond hope. But if stupid's your problem, then for heaven's sake, wise up.
