Sandra and Jamie Swartz are charged with three counts of animal cruelty.

Police say several horses, goats, and a donkey were found starving and living in filth. Officers had been investigating their home in Salem, Indiana for more than a year.

WDRB was there as rescuers removed the animals from the property. The animals are now in a vet's care.

The Swartz' are due in court at the end of the month.
