 LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One person is dead after being hit by car on Beulah Church Road near the Gene Snyder Parkway.

Metro Police say tow truck operator, identified as 35-year-old Jewan Turner of Louisville, was working on a Volkswagen Beetle, around 11:30 Thursday night when another vehicle sideswiped the Beetle then hitting Turner. Emergency crews attempted to resuscitate the driver but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say 53-year-old Paula Oppel was driving the car that hit the operator. According to police she fled the scene, but was arrested a short time later.  Oppel is charged with murder, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of an accident.
