Louisville, KY (WDRB) - Former Kentucky Wildcat Nerlens Noel finally suited up for the Philadelphia 76ers more than year after he was drafted. Noel, who suffered an ACL injury in February of 2013 while at UK, played 26 minutes in the Sixers Summer League opener against the Orlando Magic in Orlando on Saturday.
Noel scored a game high 19 points, while also pulling down a couple of rebounds and getting four steals.
"Sitting out last season was tough," Noel told NBA TV. "I had to be patient and learn (by) watching other guys. I've learned a lot and I've worked on my game."
It showed as Noel threw down a dunk after making a nice post move just 20 seconds into the game.
Philadelphia may be cautious with Noel as he tries to return fully from the injury. The Sixers staff will monitor Noel and decide on a day-to-day basis on how much playing time they're comfortable with.
The Orlando portion of the Summer League runs through July 11th.
