LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Second Street Bridge will be closed the next six weeks. Crews will shut down the heavily-traveled bridge late Monday night.

The shutdown will allow work on the new entrance and exit ramps between U.S. 31 and Court Avenue in Indiana.  Two lanes each way on Court Avenue in Jeffersonville will be accessible during construction.

Demolition of the existing approach in Indiana begins immediately once the bridge is closed.  This closure means drivers, cyclists and pedestrians will have to find another way to cross the Ohio River.

The bridge is used by 25,000 vehicles every day, but it is scheduled to reopen in August.
