LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A Louisville man was arrested after authorities say he left a young child sitting outside by himself in hot temperatures.

William Wright was arrested by Louisville Police on Saturday evening in the 8600 block of Linda Drive, after he allegedly left a 2-year-old child alone outside in temperatures that were estimated at 82 degrees. Police say a neighbor witnessed the child sitting outside by himself for approximately 45 minutes.

According to police records, the officers arrived on the scene to find the child crying and sitting alone outside by himself. Police say the child appeared to be dirty and had been sweating due to outside heat.

Police took the child and placed him in the back of a patrol car.

Police records indicate that the officers knocked on doors and windows to the house in an effort to locate the parents of the young boy.

Police say Wright was observed by officers through a window to be unconscious and non-responsive with what appeared to be a needle in his possession. Officers say they announced their presence multiple times before entering the home. Once inside, officers made contact with Wright, but they say he was unresponsive for several minutes. Officers were finally able to wake him and he was taken outside to be checked out by EMS workers.

A police search allegedly uncovered one pill bottle that contained four unknown white pills. Police say they also found a container with meth inside.

Police say Wright was the child's legal guardian. The child was taken to the Home of the Innocents.

Wright faces multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a minor.
