Airport security fees set to rise later this month

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The skies may be getting a little less friendly for your wallet.

The Transportation Security Administration is raising passenger security fees beginning July 21st. Those fees fund the TSA's airport security efforts.

Right now, travelers pay $2.50 in security fees for each plane they take to a destination. But the fee is capped at two plane rides each way.

Starting on the 21st, the TSA will charge a flat fee of $5.60 each way no matter how many planes you board.

Congress approved the higher fees last December as part of its bipartisan budget deal.
