Teen accused of setting fire that killed three New Albany children could take plea deal

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A plea deal is still on the table for the teen accused of setting the fire that killed three young children in New Albany earlier this year.

Cody Cashion's attorney met with Floyd County prosecutors Tuesday morning during a pre-trial conference. They set a date for another pre-trial conference on July 21. Cashion has until Aug. 5, the day of his final pre-trial conference, to accept an offer from Floyd County prosecutors.

Cashion was not in court, but it was another emotional day for the victims' family.

"The way he keeps holding out or not accepting responsibility is just another slap in the face," said Marie Clark, the children's grandmother. "I don't know how anybody can continue on the way he has knowing that three lives were taken because of his actions."

Cashion is facing felony murder and arson charges. His trial date is set for Sept. 2.
