State takes action on Hunters Hollow sewage problem

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The state is pushing Bullitt Utilities to clean up a raw sewage problem in a local creek in Hunters Hollow.

Back in April, a sewage treatment plant exploded and caught fire, pouring 400,000 gallons of raw sewage into the creek.

The state says power has now been supplied to the second temporary treatment plant, but it must be inspected by the utility company before it can be used.

Piping connecting the two plants must also be installed, which the state says could happen next week.

This was great news for local residents, who have been complaining of the smell and want the sewage cleaned up.
