Microchip birth control could soon be available

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The most convenient and hassle-free birth control option could be hitting the market in as little as two years.

The new option is a microchip that is only 20 millimeters long and is inserted into the body.

Developers say it will be good for 16 years and can be turned off and on with a remote.

The Bill and Belinda Gates foundation just backed the Massachusetts biotech company that's developing the contraceptive.
