Police release more details on Newburg double murder

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- New details emerged Thursday in a Newburg shooting that left two men dead earlier this week.

Police say the two men shot and killed each other after one of them forced his way into the home and tried to kill the other. It happened just before 8 a.m. on July 8 at a home on Red Oak Lane. That's where police say 20-year-old John Robertson broke into the home to rob the victim, 20-year-old Keevin Hayden, who was living there with his girlfriend.

Police say Hayden put up a fight, and during the struggle both men were shot and killed.

Investigators haven't yet said what Robertson may have been looking for, nor have they commented about the relationship between the two men. Police say they aren't sure whether Robertson worked alone.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 574-LMPD.
