Indianapolis teenager gets 59 years for murder

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis teenager who pleaded guilty to murder, aggravated battery and robbery for a crime spree last year has been sentenced to 59 years in prison.

The Indianapolis Star (http://indy.st/W4jVRd ) reports Marion Superior Judge Mark Stoner sentenced 18-year-old Sirquain Burr to a total sentence of 68 years, with nine years suspended. He also ordered Burr to three years on probation after he serves his sentence.

Prosecutors say Burr shot 38-year-old John Yingling during an attempted robbery in the driveway of Yingling's home near Southport, south of Indianapolis.

Sixteen-year-old Gabriel Edwards also pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder and robbery and could face 51 years in prison. He is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday.
