Plane crashes into two Indiana houses killing pilot

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The person killed after a plane crashed into two houses in Greenwood, Indiana on Friday has been identified as a top executive at a nationwide mall developer.

Michael Gilliland, 46, was the vice president at Simon Property Group, the Johnson County corner told the Indianapolis Star. 

The crash happened just after the plane took off from Greenwood Municipal Airport.

The co-pilot, identified as Michael Elliot of Tarpon Springs, Fla., is in critical condition.

Two people on the ground suffered minor injuries from downed power lines.

The plane was heading to another state to go through an inspection.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
