INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Evan Bayh says he's not focused on running for political office at this time.
The former U.S. senator and two-time Indiana governor held a news conference in Indianapolis to publicly thank U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett, who announced his resignation Monday. The two are longtime friends.
Bayh says his twin sons are preparing to go off to college. He says that after that, he and his wife, Susan, will sit down and decide on the next stage of their lives.
Bayh retired from the Senate in 2010. Since then, he has joined a Washington law firm, a New York equity firm and a think tank on the Middle East.
Federal Election Commission campaign finance reports show Bayh's campaign committee had $9.8 million in cash on hand as of March 31.
