FOX standup show "Laughs" begins production in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Standup comedy is getting a boost in Louisville with the taping of a new Fox show called "Laughs."
The show is the brain child and personal challenge for comedian Steve Hofstetter. He is part of the ownership of the Laughing Derby in Louisville, which was formerly named Comedy Caravan. Hofstetter is based in Los Angeles but opted to film the show in Louisville. He will be host and be executive producer of the 13-episode run of the half-hour show that will air at 11 p.m. on WDRB on Saturday for 13 weeks, beginning August 2, 2014. It will air on WMYO Sundays at 10 p.m., beginning Aug. 3. In other markets, the show will run at midnight.
"Laughs" will feature the best standup from around the country each week along with other nuggets including "the funniest tweets." The show starts in 11 markets on FOX and My Network in cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, D. C., Dallas, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Charlotte, Orlando and Louisville.
The initial taping in Louisville features 16 different comedians doing their best four minutes on stage on Tuesday, July 15. Among those scheduled to perform are Cleveland Jackson, Matty Litwak, Rich Ragains, Tom Simmons, Keith McGill, Etta May, Donnie Baker, Alex Reymundo and Spark Tabor.
Weekly tapings are scheduled for Thursdays at 7:45 p.m. through September. Actor and "Saturday Night Live" alum Tim Meadows headlines on July 24, comedian Jeff Dye is up on July 31, and standup Myq Kaplan on August 7. For additional information on future shows, CLICK HERE.
Hofstetter doesn't shy away from the fact that "Laughs" will air opposite "Saturday Night Live." He says, "no pressure! Eat it S-N-L!"
