LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after he allegedly impersonated a Kentucky State Police arson investigator.

According to an arrest warrant, the incident took place on May 10. Police say 62-year-old Tommy Swango visited the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He allegedly told officers on the campus police department (who happened to be retired Louisville Metro Police officers) that he was a Kentucky State Police arson investigator who was on campus looking for a student who could provide him with information about a meth lab fire in Henderson, Ky.

At the time Swango asked about the student, he was wearing a shirt with the Kentucky State Police logo, according to the arrest warrant.

The campus officers questioned Swango in-depth about his affiliation with Kentucky State Police, and on May 27, an actual Kentucky State Police investigator showed up at his home, asking to see his credentials.

Police say Swango was not a Kentucky State Police officer, but was instead a business owner, whose company was called "Forensic Fire Investigations Bureau." Police say he had a badge that violated the law, and had blue lights installed on his vehicle. Swango even demonstrated how he was able to flip a switch inside the vehicle and activate the blue lights, according to the arrest warrant.

Swango was arrested Monday night and charged with impersonating a peace officer and improper use of blue lights.

On Tuesday morning, WDRB News called the phone number listed for Forensic Fire Investigations Bureau. A woman answered, but quickly terminated the call without offering any comment.
