Baptist Health Hospitals earn titles as Kentucky's best hospitals

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Baptist Health Hospitals earned the top two spots in Kentucky as the best hospitals for 2014-15, according to U.S. News & World Report.

Baptist Health Lexington was ranked first and Baptist Health Louisville was in a tie for second.

The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 25th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.

“We are thrilled to have hospitals ranked #1 and #2 in Kentucky in the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospital rankings,” said Baptist Health CEO Steve Hanson. “This national honor speaks to our strong tradition of excellent patient care.”

Baptist Health Lexington rose from fourth place in last year’s rankings to claim the top spot for 2014-15. Baptist Health Louisville again tied for second place – this time with last year’s top-rated hospital, St. Elizabeth Edgewood.

“The data tell the story – a hospital that emerged from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of,” says U.S. News Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. “A Best Hospital has demonstrated its expertise in treating the most challenging patients.”

U.S. News publishes Best Hospitals to help guide patients who need a high level of care because they face particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition or extra risk because of age or multiple health problems.

The full rankings are available at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals and will appear in the U.S. News “Best Hospitals 2015” guidebook, available in August.
