LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police are investigating after an armed robbery Wednesday morning at the Dairy Queen in Middletown.

It happened just after 6 a.m. at the Dairy Queen in the 11000 block of  Shelbyville Road. That's when police say two suspects entered the business wearing hoodies and bandannas, and ordered employees to the floor. According to LMPD spokeswoman Alicia Smiley, one of the suspects fired a gun at the ceiling.

Smiley says there were five people inside the business, including employees. One person was injured after being struck in the head with a handgun. No one else was injured.

After taking the business cash, the suspects left in an unknown direction.

The LMPD robbery unit is investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 502-574-LMPD (574-5673).
