Sam Swope annual Charity Ride is a 70 mile journey to help Kosair Charities
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Motorcycles will be roaring through Louisville on Sunday for the Sam Swope annual Charity Ride. It's the 15th year for the event, which benefits Kosair Charities.
Businessman and philanthropist Sam Swope is the sponsor of the charity ride on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He and David Owen from Kosair Charities explain why they say they "ride so kids can walk."
Since the first year, the Charity Ride has raised more than $1 million dollars for Kosair Kids® and has fast become the largest rally in the state. The event starts at 10 a.m. at the Sam Swope Auto Center at I-64 and Hurstbourne Lane. The 70 mile journey ends at the Kosair Shrine Temple.
Throughout the day there will be several cash prizes awarded, silent auction and preregistered guests will have the chance to a win 2014 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softtail Classic®. The drawing for the new Harley-Davidson will take place at 4 p.m. at the Kosair Shrine Temple.
This year, the rally will also welcome a new guest - Mallory Lewis and Lamb Chop. Mallory is the daughter of Lamb Chops original partner from the famous TV Show Shari Lewis.
Bluegrass Harley-Davidson is also sponsoring the event.
