JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- Police are looking for the family of a man who was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer in Clark County early Friday.

It happened on Interstate 265 near the Tenth Street exit in Jeffersonville, in a construction zone. That's when police say they received a call about a man walking along the interstate. A state trooper from the Indiana State Police in Sellersburg was in the process of searching for the man when a semi truck in front of him hit the brakes and pulled over.

That's when the trooper discovered that the driver of the semi had struck the victim, identified as 66-year-old Larry W. Peyton. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The trooper who witnessed the incident says Peyton was walking in the driving lane and "appeared to be staggering."

Now police are trying to locate Peyton's family members. The address on his driver’s license – 2502 Mars Hill Street in Indianapolis – is not current, police say.

Anyone who knows Peyton or recognizes his picture is asked to call the Indiana State Police Post in Sellersburg at 800-872-6743 or 812-246-5424 or the Clark County Coroner's Office at 812-285-6262.
