LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Residents in Somerset, Ky. complained about high gas prices. And the city responded by opening its own filling station.

Today, in its first three hours of business, about 75 customers fueled up.

The city only has 11,000 residents. Gas was $3.36 a gallon.

That's three cents cheaper than several nearby stations.

The city-run business only sells regular unleaded gas. There are no snacks and no repairs.

Supporters love the new option. Critics call it a "taxpayer-supported swipe at the free market."
