Teen killed in Trimble County murder-suicide
MILTON, Ky. (WDRB) - Two people were killed, another injured, in what police are calling a murder-suicide.
Kentucky State Police say Robert Harmon, 48, of Milton, Ky., fatally shot a 16-year-old female and injured his former girlfriend, 33-year-old Niki Davis, before killing himself.
Police responded to the home on Gariott Court. in Milton, Ky. around 2 a.m. Sunday. Trooper Brad Arterburn said Davis' daughter, who was upstairs at the time of the shooting, called 9-1-1.
"She heard it and then went downstairs and saw that two of them were dead," said Arterburn. "Ms. Davis was responsive, talking, walking around. She told her to call 9-1-1."
Police say Davis and Harmon broke up in the last week, after several years of dating. Authorities believe the two got into an altercation early Sunday morning, which led to the shooting.
Police say the couple shared the home on Gariott Court. Davis' niece had been staying with the couple for several months. Authorities aren't sure why or how the teen was caught up in the shooting.
Paul Moceika worked with Davis at a local gas station. He said Harmon came to the store Saturday evening, before the shooting, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
"There was no signs anything like this was going to happen," said Moceika. "He was in here, he was normal, he was fine."
Police say Davis was shot twice in the face. She was transported to U of L Hospital and is expected to survive.
Two children were in the home at the time. Police say both were Davis' children. They have been placed with other family members.
