Sign honoring fallen Bardstown officer now stands on highway

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officers in Nelson County reflected on fallen Bardstown police officer Jason Ellis on Sunday.

Now, a sign stands on the Bluegrass Parkway near the exit where Ellis was shot and killed last May.

Thirteen miles of the Bluegrass Parkway will now be called the Jason Ellis Memorial Highway.

The new sign reflects the change.

"I think it is a great honor for Jason and the sacrifice he gave and his family," said David Culler of Bardstown police. "And to bring this to attention that unfortunately this happens every day in the state of the United States, that officers get killed in the line of duty."

No arrests have been made so far for Officer Ellis' murder.
