Volunteers needed for National FFA Convention

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Louisville Convention & Visitors Bureau (LCVB) is looking for volunteers to help with the 2014 National FFA Convention. Louisville’s largest convention will return to the city this fall with more than 60,000 students and advisers.
"Last year, a lot of locals were really impressed with the FFA students and wanted to know how they could get involved," said Rose Caple, volunteer coordinator for the LCVB. "We are trying to get the word out early about these opportunities."
Volunteer positions include working at the FFA MegaStore inside the expo, city information assistance, and accompanying groups on off-site educational tours. Volunteers will receive training and a Louisville shirt to wear during the shift.
The LCVB will be using a comprehensive, online registration and ticketing software called The Registration System (TRS) to coordinate the hundreds of available positions. To register to become a volunteer, applicants can visit http://lou.ly/ffareg. For questions or assistance registering, contact volunteer@gotolouisville.com or call 502-814-2746.
The National FFA convention will run from Oct. 29 through Nov. 1.

Attendees will learn about careers in the agriculture industry, compete for scholarships, volunteer in the “Days of Service” program and shape the future of the National FFA Organization.
