LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - LMPD arrested a woman who they say impersonated a police officer and tried to demand money.

Dawne Ellis was arrested Sunday morning on Preston Highway, after police say she attempted to obtain money and impersonated a police officer, according to an arrest report.

Ellis was approached by officers in the middle of Preston Highway, where police responded to reports of her trying flag down motorists.

An officer reportedly approached Ellis, and she told them she was a police officer and she could not be arrested.

After she was told to stop, police records say she continued to yell at nearby citizens that she was a police officer and that they needed to give her money.

Ellis was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer and disorderly conduct.
