Blue ink cleared from New Albany creek

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The water in New Albany is back to normal, following a small ink spill that turned a creek blue.

Neighbors noticed a creek off Slate Run Road was a little too blue last week.

An employee with Discount Labels Printing Company was apparently rinsing out a blue ink barrel at his home, which caused the water to turn blue.

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has successfully cleaned the ink from the water. They say since the cleanup, no leaching has taken place.

Crews will continue to monitor the situation.

According to Mike Hall with the New Albany Mayor's Office, Discount Labels will likely pay for the cost of the cleanup.
