Indiana man expected to be sentenced in infant's death

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Salem, Indiana man is expected to be sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to killing his girlfriend, Casey Crain's, baby.

Jamie Lykins pleaded guilty to killing eight-month-old Leelan Crain in September. Court documents indicate Lykins told a babysitter that he had beaten the baby.

Lykins and Leelan's mother didn't take the baby to a hospital immediately out of fear of the police.

The couple told hospital staff the baby had fallen off the bed.

Leelan died at Kosair Children's Hospital.

Under the plea agreement, the most time Lykins could receive is a 50 year prison sentence.

Casey Crain is charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death. Her trial is expected to begin in December.
